Oru Designs USA – Operations, Reinforcement, and Customer Update (12-15-2025)
Share
As shared in our recent update, Oru Designs is in a focused reinforcement phase centered on long-term durability, production consistency, and improved support systems. We want to provide additional clarity on several operational changes, communication improvements, and engineering advancements currently underway.
Operational Focus and Facility Consolidation
As part of our efforts to strengthen quality control and streamline production oversight, we have made the decision to consolidate operations from our Flagstaff, AZ location into our Vista, CA headquarters.
The Flagstaff location experienced lower in-person traffic than originally anticipated. Consolidating operations allows us to centralize manufacturing oversight, engineering validation, and quality assurance within a single facility. This ensures tighter coordination between teams, more consistent build standards, and improved inspection processes as we validate and prepare reinforced components for broader rollout.
Vista, CA remains our primary headquarters and operational center, housing engineering, production coordination, and support infrastructure. This consolidation is an intentional step toward reinforcing quality control and long-term reliability across all Oru products.
Strengthened Operations and Support Structure
To support this reinforcement phase, we have expanded our operations and customer-support capacity with additional operational oversight and structured systems. Our founders continue to guide product vision and engineering direction, while the expanded operations team manages day-to-day workflow, customer communication, and internal coordination.
As part of this strengthened structure, we have also engaged experienced operations and systems specialists to support workflow design, communication infrastructure, and customer-experience improvements. This additional expertise allows our internal team to operate with greater clarity, consistency, and accountability as we move through this reinforcement phase.
Communication Improvements
We recognize that response times for phone and email inquiries have been delayed during this reinforcement period. Our team is actively addressing a significant backlog of calls and messages, and we appreciate the continued patience of customers as inquiries are worked through in the order received.
Reinforced Hingeless V3 Wall System – Engineering Update
Our engineering team continues to validate the reinforced hingeless V3 wall system. This redesigned wall assembly removes reliance on mechanical hinge components and introduces a reinforced structure built for durability, flexibility, and long-term performance.
Key elements of the reinforced V3 system include:
-
Marine-grade fabric designed for durability and weather resistance
- Integrated hard panel cores within the fabric-based wall assembly
- Hard panels that are insulated and wrapped to improve thermal performance
- A reinforced structure that flexes where needed without mechanical hinges
- Fully functioning zip-open window panels with integrated mosquito-net screens, allowing for adjustable airflow when conditions permit. These screened zip-open windows are located on both sides and the corner sections of the wall system and represent a functional capability not available on prior wall designs.
This approach allows the wall system to maintain strength while accommodating movement and environmental conditions. As with all Oru tents to date, the V3 system is designed to be weather resistant. We have never represented our tents as weatherproof, and proper setup and use remain essential for optimal performance in varied conditions.
Engineering validation remains ongoing to ensure the reinforced system meets long-term durability and quality standards prior to broader implementation.
V3 Upgrade Commitment for Current and New Customers
As part of our reinforcement initiative:
- All campers ordered (starting 11/25/2025) will be built with the reinforced hingeless V3 wall system.
- Production lead time for V3-equipped campers is estimated at 10–12 weeks from the time the final invoice is paid, subject to engineering validation completion and production scheduling.
In addition:
- All outstanding warranty-related wall concerns currently in our system will be addressed through an upgrade to the reinforced V3 wall system.
- Upgrade installations will be coordinated through our structured service workflow to ensure quality control and proper installation.
- Details regarding installation logistics, scheduling, and available service locations will be communicated directly to affected customers as part of that coordination process.
These upgrades will be managed as part of our broader reinforcement and service program to ensure consistent results and long-term reliability.
Addressing the Communication Backlog
Our team is actively working through a substantial backlog of phone calls and emails generated during this transition period. All inquiries are being addressed in the order received to ensure accuracy and fairness. As operational systems stabilize and communication tools are fully implemented, customers should continue to see improved response consistency.
Support remains available at support@orudesignsusa.com, and all inquiries are logged, tracked, and routed appropriately.
Looking Ahead
The steps outlined above reflect a deliberate effort to reinforce both our products and the systems that support them. By consolidating operations, strengthening internal workflows, implementing improved communication tools, and committing to a reinforced wall system for all customers, we are focused on building a more durable, reliable, and sustainable Oru for the long term.
We appreciate the continued patience and engagement of our customers and community as this structured reinforcement phase continues. Additional updates will be shared as engineering validation progresses and V3 production moves forward.
Oru Designs Reinforcement & V3 Upgrade – FAQ
What is the reinforced V3 wall system?
The V3 system is Oru’s latest hingeless wall design. It removes reliance on mechanical hinge components and uses a reinforced wall assembly made from marine-grade fabric with integrated, insulated hard panels. The structure is designed to flex where needed while improving durability, thermal performance, and long-term reliability.
Will my camper be built with the V3 wall system?
Yes. All campers purchased moving forward will be built with the reinforced hingeless V3 wall system.
What is the lead time for V3-equipped campers?
The estimated production lead time is 10–12 weeks from the time the final invoice is paid, subject to engineering validation completion and production scheduling.
I have an outstanding warranty-related wall issue. What happens next?
All outstanding warranty-related wall concerns currently in our system will be addressed through an upgrade to the reinforced V3 wall system. Upgrade installations will be coordinated through our structured service workflow to ensure proper installation, quality control, and consistent results. Details regarding scheduling and installation logistics will be communicated directly to affected customers as part of that process.
Is there an additional cost for the V3 upgrade?
No. The V3 wall system is included for new purchases, and qualifying warranty-related wall upgrades will be handled at no additional cost.
Are Oru tents weatherproof?
Oru tents are designed to be weather-resistant, not weatherproof. This has always been the case across all models. Proper setup, use, and site conditions remain important for optimal performance in varied environments.
Why was the Flagstaff, AZ, location closed?
Operations were consolidated to our Vista, CA headquarters due to lower in-person traffic in Flagstaff. This consolidation allows for centralized engineering validation, production oversight, and quality control.
Why has communication been slower than usual?
During the reinforcement and restructuring phase, communication systems became significantly backlogged. Our team is actively working through all inquiries in the order received and has implemented improved tools and processes to increase consistency and visibility.
How is customer communication improving?
We are implementing an enhanced AI-assisted phone system to improve call routing, documentation, and tracking. This system supports our operations team by ensuring inquiries are logged accurately and routed for appropriate follow-up.
How can I contact support right now?
Support remains available using our Support Form. All inquiries are logged and addressed in the order received.
Will there be more updates?
